Linda Dachtyl and her husband/drummer, Cary Dachtyl, hail from (arguably) one of the most fertile areas of the world for Jazz Organ music: Columbus, Ohio. The many jazz organists from this city have truly helped advance this music to the point of worldwide recognition and appreciation and the music contained in this CD is certainly an extension of this movement with its mixture of original tunes, covers, and classics.
Linda doesn’t necessarily see a formula for an organ recording other than to include a ballad, Latin or some Blues, Funk or even Pop material. She is motivated purely by those tunes that she likes and those that she feels will have traction. As she says: “You never know what people like and you have to be objective about your own work”. Whether playing in a dive bar; a reputable supper club or a renowned theater, Linda and company are accommodating to club owners’ tastes and audience reactions in terms of tune selection and musical styles.
